Travel Immunizations and Pre-Travel Planning
A holiday, family visit, work trip, or extended stay outside Canada can come with different health considerations. Some destinations may have vaccination recommendations that do not apply to everyday life in Manitoba.
If you are travelling, it is a good idea to plan your immunizations well before departure. Some vaccines are given as a series of doses, and the timing between doses can matter. Manitoba Health recommends speaking with an immunization provider or travel health clinic at least six weeks before expected departure when possible.

Travel vaccines are generally not publicly funded by Manitoba Health, although there are specific exceptions. The fees for travel consultations at our clinic can vary depending on the destination, complexity of the consultation, and number of people attending.

Immunizations For Children, Adults and Families
Immunization needs change throughout life. Children follow recommended schedules that differ from adult schedules, while some adults may need catch-up immunizations if they missed doses or do not have complete records. Manitoba also has specific schedules for people who were not previously immunized or who need to catch up.

What To Know Before Your Immunization Visit
A little preparation can make your visit more useful.
Before coming in, consider bringing:
- Your current or previous immunization record, if available
- Information about vaccines you have received elsewhere
- Details about your travel destination if you are seeking travel immunizations
- Information about any previous vaccine reactions or relevant allergies
- Details about medications or health conditions that may be important to your care
- Any school, workplace, or travel documentation that outlines specific requirements
If you do not have a complete immunization record, do not assume that you cannot receive care. Manitoba has catch-up schedules for people who have never been immunized, have been partially immunized, or do not have an immunization record.

For scheduling purposes, “family” is defined as mother, father, brother, sister, etc. It does not include grandparents, aunts, uncles, or adult children 18 years of age or older.
