Patient Policies
Patients looking for ongoing care may be asked to book a meet-and-greet appointment to discuss their medical history with a physician. Please note that accepting new patients is at the physician’s discretion and may depend on availability.
If you already have a family doctor at the clinic, you cannot be registered with another family doctor at the same clinic. To maintain a fair and organized clinic environment, patient transfers between physicians may not be available.
Appointments may be booked in person or by phone, depending on availability. Patients who are not registered family practice patients may use the walk-in clinic during regular clinic hours.
Patients are expected to bring valid, up-to-date photo identification and an active provincial health card, excluding Quebec. If a valid provincial health card is not provided, fees may apply.
South Pembina Walk-in Clinic is committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for patients, staff, and physicians.
Discrimination, abusive language, harassment, threats, or disrespectful behaviour will not be tolerated. Patients who do not follow this policy may be asked to leave and may be discharged from the clinic.
Our physicians do not prescribe narcotic medications to individuals who are not established patients of the clinic. We understand that emergencies can happen. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact the clinic as soon as possible.
Patients who miss an appointment without notice may be charged a no-show fee. Fees may also apply for late cancellations.
Please make sure your personal information is kept up to date, including your address, phone number, and health card information.
If your address changes, please notify both the clinic and Manitoba Health so your health coverage information remains current.
Your privacy is very important to us. All personal health information is kept confidential and handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and clinic policies.
If you have questions or concerns about your personal health information, please contact the clinic directly.
Please contact your pharmacy before your medication runs out and ask them to send a prescription renewal request to the clinic.
The request will be reviewed by the physician. If the renewal is not approved, clinic staff may contact you to arrange a follow-up appointment.
Antibiotics and some other medications may require reassessment by a physician before they can be renewed.
If a referral to a specialist is required, our office will make every effort to send it in a timely manner. Please ensure your contact information is up to date, as either our clinic or the specialist’s office may contact you by phone or mail with appointment details.
Specialist wait times can vary and may take several months or longer depending on the type of referral. If you have a preferred specialist, please discuss this with the physician before the referral is sent.
Wait times are estimates and may change depending on patient volume, appointment delays, and urgent medical concerns.
We do our best to see patients as quickly as possible. Patients with booked appointments may be seen before walk-in patients
Walk-in services are available during regular clinic hours, subject to physician availability and clinic capacity.
Please note that the clinic may stop accepting walk-ins before closing time if maximum capacity is reached. Patients are encouraged to call ahead to confirm availability.
Most lab results may take several business days to be received by the clinic. Some results may take longer depending on the type of test and where it is processed.
Pap tests, biopsies, and specialized testing may take several weeks. Patients may contact the clinic to confirm whether results have been received.
However, results cannot be discussed over the phone by reception staff. To review your results, please book an appointment with a physician.
